Client/Employer:
Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering
Colorado State University

Over the course of about a year, the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering created a strategic plan for the next five years of the college. I worked throughout the process with the dean of the college and many staff members on designing the final version. The final 20-page publication is letter-sized, and the web version can be downloaded at www.engr.colostate.edu/about-us/#strategic. Work also included multiple websites, internal communications, and work with committees on design.

Initial logo/project graphic

The planning committees requested a graphic that could be used within the college to sub-brand the planning efforts. As the plan was retooling and putting many pieces together for a new college plan, I felt a “pieces of the puzzle” design captured the idea well.

Initial concepts and feedback

I created several rounds of designs, taking the information provided by staff and the dean of the college. The initial design took a more illustrated approach, different than the normal designs of the college and university, and still within university branding efforts.

Revisions and final publication

After several rounds of revisions and design changes, along with content changes from the dean and staff, I created the final design and layout for the piece. The publication was then posted to the web, sent to every faculty and staff member in the college, and printed in a small run (with minor expansion to fit the 20 page/ divisible by 4 pages setup).
