I designed all the assets for this project, the groundbreaking for the $80 million Colorado State University Laser Center collaboration with Marvel Fusion. From initial groundbreaking materials and event signage to promotional digital ads, I designed many materials for print, web, and digital needs.

Digital advertising

To promote the collaboration, I designed digital ads to run in the First Bell newsletter, from the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). The ads promoted directly to deans, researchers, and other administrative staff and members of the organization across the country.

E-invitations to groundbreaking ceremony

I designed email headers, working with CSU’s Advancement staff, for invites to industry leaders, university and corporate executives, and associated staff.

Outdoor signage

On the site itself on the CSU Foothills Campus, two large signs (4′ x 8′) were requested. The first was placed at the edge of the property, backed with wood and printed on vinyl.

Outdoor signage, to direct attendees of the groundbreaking ceremony

The second outdoor sign, also of vinyl, was used to reveal the full title of the project during the groundbreaking ceremony.

Public signage for the ceremony

Working with staff in the college, I designed a number of posters explaining the science behind laser fusion, and CSU’s history as leaders in the field. The posters have since been reused for Professor Ken Reardon’s “Ram Talks” in downtown Fort Collins, Colorado, where he explained laser fusion to the general community.

Video editing and recording

As part of my job, I also recorded the groundbreaking ceremony. I edited the ceremony, editing out minor differences and color correcting the footage mostly due to the late afternoon ceremony. I added lower thirds and cards, and uploaded to our college YouTube channel in an effort to get local media attention.

Bonus: Cookie design

One of the fun things I designed for the project was the cookies. These were printed by a local Fort Collins, Colorado company, and imprinted on the cookies for the groundbreaking ceremony.
